Healthy is the new beautiful. (HAIR that is…)

Whether you are a natural blonde, salon blonde, redhead, brunette, or have beautiful black hair. In order to keep it healthy and beautiful here are a few items you can use! If you’re a blonde gal like me, I will be adding a few items on how I keep my blonde bright and healthy!

Weekly regimen

Once a week I clarify & deep condition my hair – as a blonde these are super important as hot tools, products, sunshine, and even bleaching your hair can wreck havoc on the condition of your hair! Blonde and hair is beautiful if it is healthy!

Here are my 2 weekly must haves! ( which can be used no matter the color of your hair)

Great Clips clarifying shampoo. It is one of my all time favorite shampoos! It is great if you swim often or use a lot of product! This shampoo helps lift away build up, revives body and shine and promotes scalp health! It is great for all types of hair.

Specialty Solutions by Great Clips - Clarifying Shampoo

Matrix Biolage Hydrasource mask is great for all types of hair. This paired with the clarifying shampoo is excellent! It helps revive dry strands, it is paraben free and safe for color treated hair. I generally leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes depending on what show is on the tube. It leaves my hair silky smooth, and helps keep it healthy.

Twice a week I shampoo my hair with Joico’s Color Endure Violet shampoo. This is great for blondes & even those who want to keep their silver/white hair from looking brassy. The purple helps keep brass at bay and helps keep the icy blonde. It acts as a toner. You just shampoo as usual but let it stay in for 3-5 minutes.

Every other day! With all the no poo rage. This is a gem I am still trying to figure out. It is a low lather, fast rinsing shampoo/conditioner that restores moisture and shine into your hair. It can be tricky because the low lather makes you feel like it isn’t clean, so you typically use too much. However, I generally start with 4 pumps and put it on the top of my head, scrub a little, add a few more pumps to my midshaft, then my ends and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Lastly my 2 favorite items!

My go to leave in treatment Soya want it all 22 in 1 by Sexy hair. It has so many benefits its humidity resistant, a thermal protector (for blow drying), lightweight, color protector, detangles and adds strength. I spray this into my hair every time I get out of the shower & then comb it in!

Before I shampoo my hair, I add a few drops of Healthy Sexy Hair’s soy renewal oil into my hair. The argan oil is excellent for when your hair needs added moisture. It is great for preventing frizz and helps smooth hair. Aside, from adding it before I shampoo, I also add a little if I used hot tools!

What do you use to keep your hair healthy?

First Impression …No Poo edition!

For the longest time women were jumping on the no shampoo train & as a hairstylist, this was something I couldn’t figure out. Until…yesterday! While shopping at Salon Centric I came across this gem…Biolage:Matrix’s version of the no poo shampoo craze…the Cleansing conditioner for fine hair!

matrixcond

Biolage states this shampoo is a low lather, fast rinsing shampoo free shampoo! The new no-poo shampoo! It’s great for fine hair with citrus that provides thorough cleansing and lightweight conditioning to enhance shine, suppleness and also provides anti static control. It is suitable for color treated hair and its non stripping cleaner conditions your hair gently. It is sulfate, paraben and silicone free! This cleanser is available for fine, medium and coarse hair.

Well, after buying this gem…I had to try it that evening and I had tons, and tons of hairspray in my hair from my updo that morning! (I mean, I had hairspray dreads in a sense, now its not what you’re thinking or maybe it is, it was just because of all the hairspray my hair was clumped together) so, I hop in the shower, read the directions which states 5-7 pumps depending on your hair. This no poo shampoo is definitely true to its word when it means no lather, which is something any person would have to get used too, I let the conditioning cleanser chill in my hair for a few minutes and rinsed. A little bit truly goes a long way! I then, hopped out of the shower, and let my hair dry. My hairspray dreads were gone! My hair was shiny and soft!

Now of course only time will tell if this no poo shampoo is the best & I Will add another review after 4-6 weeks!

Have you tried the no poo shampoo? has it worked wonders on your hair?

Until next time loves!

My AM/PM routine!

When it comes to my face, it has been a battle since I was a teenager! Battling the ever so hated acne! So after years, I have finally figured out what works and its truly a simple process!

First, I start off with my beloved Biore. The charcoal helps draw out dirt deep down in your pores. I try to wash my face for 30-45 seconds before I rinse!

second, I dab some toner on a cotton ball

toner

then add a dime size of

fresh

now you’re ready for the day!

My PM routine doesn’t differ that much from my morning routine except for 2 steps

removal

I actually wash my face twice with 2 different cleanser, the charcoal cleanser draws out the junk and the green tea cleanser helps reduce redness on my pale white skin

FIT ME review!

new 086

Recently I purchased some of Maybelline’s FIT ME Matte & poreless foundation. As promised a review has now come to life!

At first I purchased Natural Ivory 112 for my base however, this color tended to be a tad bit darker & a little more yellow than my natural skin tone, which is pale…very very pale! ( I hate the sun, sun causes problems and I just burn) . So, I went back to CVS & picked up the lightest color they had Porcelain 110. This shade provided just the right amount of coverage and was the perfect color for my ghostly skin tone! While the foundation has 16 shades it ranges from Porcelain to Coconut it is very limited in shades.

The foundation has the perfect light/medium coverage for every day where & lasted all day with a primer and BB cream base! While my pores were still visible, it did provide the coverage to minimize them & help with my sparkly T-Zone!

PROS of the foundation

  • amazing color matching
  • layers great and doesn’t cake
  • great for the price
  • evens skin tone

CONS

  • color range is limited
  • some find the packaging to be a pain in the butt.
  • not great for oily skin

This foundation has become part of my every day look & It’s easy to apply with your fingers, beauty blender, stippling brush. You can say I am officially a fan of the FIT ME line!

What is your favorite drugstore foundation? Have you tried any products from Maybelline’s FIT ME line?

Until next time beauties!

Simple & Sweet

Growing out a pixie has turned out to be a very daunting task. You have to figure out how to avoid the mullet look as it grows out & it can get very awkward! So, of course it’s a victory when you can put your hair into a tiny yet ugly ponytail!

minitail

Now comes the fun part! How on earth can I pull my hair back and still look chic? A half halo of course! It is a quick style when you’re running late or don’t have the energy to style your hair (like me!)

Here is what you will need

Tigi Sea Salt Spray (or you can use dry shampoo) this is just to add texture to your hair.

Teasing comb ( or just a regular comb)

A handful of bobby pins similar to your hair color.

A paste or cream for extra holding power

and lastly, a STRONG hold hairspray

now finally the how – to!

1. Spray some texture spray or dry shampoo into your hair.

2. tease hair at the crown for a little lift.

3. Add a little paste or cream for holding power (generally I would stay away from gel, gel creates a wet and crunchy look) with paste you will have a matte, firm yet pliable finish.

4. starting at your set part, divide your hair into 2 (similar to pigtails)

5. choose a side to start and begin by taking a piece of your hair (near front of ear) and twist hair counter clock wise and picking up pieces until you reach the nape of your neck. and then pin with some bobby pins.

6. repeat on the other side & pin.

7. lastly SPRAY!

If you want to add some sparkle you can always add a headband!

I apologize for the low quality photos however, I got the idea of a how to at work!

Until next time!!!

Mini Walgreens haul!

It’s payday! Which means….spend over 50 bucks at walgreens day! I never realized how much things add up especially at a drugstore. But, I couldn’t pass up sale items!

haul 007

Now, all my goodies aren’t included in the photo because its just toothpaste, toothbrushes, and floss! (gotta keep my pearly whites clean!)

haul 003

(one of my monsters is trying to figure out what on earth I am doing)

In one of my previous posts I spoke about charcoal cleanser & I LOVE IT! it has worked wonders on my oily skin! So, I had to restock my Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser!

So, as I look at the make up Walgreens has bright orange tabs that scream SALE! I noticed L’OREAL Voluminous Power Volume 24H Black smoke was HALF OFF for just 3.99!  It claims to create fuller looking and dramatic bold volume for your eye lashes! I will of course have a review for you soon!

Next, Wet & Wild was Buy one get one half off I decided to go with Fergie’s line and bought her Brush with destiny which is a pretty peachy blush & I also got her Velvet matte lip color in A356 (which I got into a tug of war when attempting to get the top off and the lipstick decided to come with it! I was not thrilled!)

I got all 4 goodies for under 15 bucks! (the face wash was the most expensive!)

Stay tuned for reviews on these products in the week to come!

Stay beautiful and enjoy your weekend 🙂
